A race or event is more than folks just showing up to ride. Both before and after, small groups of 'Trail Gnomes' work feverishly to prepare and clean the trails.

Patrol Member & Disco Liaison, Bryan Wender will be leading a group to help those 'Trail Gnomes' with the Mill Mountain Disco Series event.

Bryan will meet at Mill Mountain's Discovery Center at 9:00 am Sunday 28 March 2010 and plans to work for 3-4 hours and then 'chase' the trailwork with some practice laps!

It's Time to "Dance" with your Mountain Bike @ the Disco Series

It's a fun way to ride with your fellow mountain bikers...

A casual, fun race series is taking place in your backyard... the Mill Mountain Trail System. Starting at the Disco(very) Center, a loop or multi-loop course will take you down the mountain and back up again where once completed, the fun really begins!

Dates are Wednesday Nites as follows:
April 14, April 28, May 12, May 26
On site same-day registration begins at 5:15pm for $10 per race.

But why wait?! Register early for $8 per race! (discount applied at end of registration process)

What's w/ the flagging? -- Conservation Easement on Mill Mtn?

Flagging on Mill Mountain?
Some may have noticed 'Marker Flagging and Pins' recently being placed around Mill Mountain. According to Paul Chapman of Roanoke Parks and Recreation, these Pins and Flagging are part of a routine Park Boundary Survey Project. Thank you for not disturbing the markers.

Conservation Easement on Mill Mountain?
Again from Paul Chapman, Roanoke Parks and Recreation:

Roanoke Parks and Recreation invites citizens to attend a public information session to discuss the potential conservation easement on Mill Mountain Park. The first session will take place on Tuesday, March 16, and the second will take place on Thursday, March 25. Both will be held at the Mill Mountain Discovery Center from 5 to 8 p.m.

These informal information sessions are designed for citizens to learn more about the conservation easement process, ask questions, and provide comments.
